FAQ
I’Velo Urban is the first automated bike-sharing service in Bucharest. The bicycles can be rented based on cards and are available 7 days out of 7.
The novelty of the concept is the bicycle rental to travel fast and to avoid the crowded traffic in the central area of the city.
Users can use the bicycle many times a day, based on any type of subscription (daily/monthly/3 months/6 months/annual). The cycling session and break between sessions differ due to the chosen subscription. Returning the bicycle later than the allowed cycling minutes is charged extra, regardless of the type of subscription.
To become I’Velo Urban user, you must obtain the I’Velo card, that you can pick up, on a fee, from one of the I’Velo Relax rental centers of Herăstrău Park (Aviatorilor subway) or Tineretului Park (Șincai entry).
Once you have picked up the card, you can make a subscription either at the center where you picked up the card or subsequently on www.ivelo.ro / my account.
Once you took possession of your card, you can go to any I’Velo Urban station to rent a bicycle, the renting steps are:
- bring the card close to the reader under the main screen,
- enter your PIN code,
- choose a bicycle, selecting the number corresponding to an available bicycle on the screen,
- pick up the receipt (if requested)
- pick up the bicycle you have selected within 15 seconds, from the position flashing green
For any type of subscription (daily/monthly/3 months/6 months/annual), users can make various rentals, followed by a break. The time of rental and breaks differ due to the chosen subscription.
A green light post shows that the bicycle can be rented or can be returned.
The red light means a defect or unavailable docking post.
The payment for exceeding the minutes included in the subscription is made online on ivelo.ro website, accessing my account, or at one of the I’Velo Relax rental centers of Herăstrău Park (Aviatorilor subway) or Tineretului Park (Șincai entry).
